How We Met…

Regina and Derick both joined Tinder with a shared dream: to find "the one." Someone who’s curious about the world, excited to try new foods and adventures, and always finds reasons to laugh. A simple swipe right brought these two adventurous souls together—leading to their future as Mr. and Mrs.

Our First Date…

After days of witty banter, nonstop texting, and a few FaceTime calls, Derick asked Regina on a date. They set a time and place—only for Regina to cancel at the last minute. Undeterred, Derick stayed in touch and asked her out again. This time, pancakes (one of Regina’s favorite foods) were on the menu at a lively brunch spot in Greenwich Village.

They met, shared pancakes and bottomless mimosas, and laughed like old friends. As the date came to an end, they rode the subway home, where their first kiss happened—not in a picture-perfect, romantic setting, but on the crowded West 4th Street subway platform. A true NYC love story! Exactly one year later, Derick officially asked Regina to be his girlfriend.

The Journey…

Their relationship was anything but conventional. After two amazing years, Regina was accepted into a Nurse Anesthesia program in Charlotte, NC, while Derick stayed in Brooklyn to pursue a Master’s in Public Administration at Baruch College. Then, COVID hit.

Though the world shut down, their love stayed open. Defying airport closures and travel restrictions, they flew back and forth every other month, determined to be together. Despite the 600 mile distance and a global pandemic, their connection only deepened.

The Engagement…

Fast forward through graduations, career changes, international travels, and unforgettable moments. Derick moved to Charlotte to build a life together with Regina. After seven incredible years, Derick gathered both families and close friends on a rooftop in NYC. With the skyline behind him, he got down on one knee and asked, "Will you marry me?" Regina’s answer was an excited "Yes!".

As such, we cannot wait to celebrate our journey and the next chapter of our love story with you this May!
